PORT OF RABAUL
Rabaul Port is situated north of Simpson Harbour, Latitude: 03° 35.0'S Longitude: 152° 10.36'E. Rabaul port occupies defined precincts in and adjacent to the East New Britain provincial town which is also known as the “Pearl of the Pacific”, Rabaul. Rabaul port is also the tourist hub and fish port of Papua New Guinea.
The port waters of Rabaul port covers an area of more than 100 square kilometers which includes the Blanche Bay. Within the Rabaul port there are two berths which caters for overseas and coastal vessels. Rabaul port container terminal caters for coastal and international trade. This berths also specialize in motor vehicle and dry cargoes including copra as well as handling bulk liquids from diesel oil to petrochemical products.
The ports importance to Rabaul is evident as the provincial and national government relies on sea transport for more than 95 per cent of its trade. The Rabaul port handles a large range of manufactured goods, containerized shipments, fresh vegetables, cocoa, balsa, fish exports, palm oil exports and log exports. The port activity also direct or indirectly provides employment opportunities for the local land owners as well as other national within the town of Rabaul.

WHARF FACILITIES
CRANES / FORKLIFTS
There are no wharf mounted cranes, however, forklifts and reach stacker are available capable of lifting up to fourteen (14) tonne containers and ARBI-Lifts/40' Spreader capable of lifting up to forty (40) tonne containers. Shippers are advised though to check this before shipping heavier loads. Prior advice and approval must be sought from the relevant Port Authority.
STORAGE AREA
Under cover storage 10,179m². Open storage 20,300m².
Slipways, Ship Repairs & Maintenance
Rabaul Slipways is the only slipway in Rabaul. A new dry dock facility is in operation at Motukea (Port Moresby) by Curtain Brother (PNG) Ltd.
WASTE DISPOSAL
No waste disposal facility available. Arrangement for disposal can also be done through the Shipping Agents and National Agriculture and Quarantine Inspection Authority (NAQIA).
