PORT OF KAVIENG
The Port of Kavieng (above) is the main port for the New Ireland Province of Papua New Guinea. Kavieng is a tropical paradise known for both its natural diving sites and wrecks dating from the Second World War.
The Port handles General container ships, LCT barge, and Bulk cargo ships, Motor Tankers (Bulk Fuel) and overseas Cruise vessels /Yachts (passengers).

PORT SECURITY (24/7)
Kavieng Port is an ISPS compliant port and properties within the fenced port area is guarded by a contracted security company under supervision of port's security personnel (Shift Security Supervisors).
WASTE DISPOSAL.
Arrangements for disposal can be done with the Shipping Agent and National Agriculture and Quarantine Inspection Authority (NAQIA).

PILOTAGE BOARDING ARRANGEMENTS
Boarding speed limit: 3-4 Knots with two main ropes or pilot combinations. Port Control or pilot to instruct vessel.

In port working channel: Channel 12.
TUG, TOWAGE, MOORING GANGS SERVICES
Privately owned and operated under license issued by the PNG Ports Corporation Limited. Arrangements can be made with Private Operators through the respective Shipping Agents.
WHARF CRANES
Kavieng Port has mobile cranes available capable of lifting up to 20 tonne containers. Shippers are advised though to confirm this before shipping heavier loads. Prior advice and approval must be sought from the PNGPCL.
SLIPWAY, SHIP REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE
A dry dock facility is in operation at Motukea (Port Moresby) by Curtain Brothers (PNG) Ltd.
